Petra Venj
Various Dialogue

Personality: Petra is comes from a world steeped in war and mystery. Her own people are an enimga; the product of humans attempting to escape their ravaged homeworld and colonies and finding themselves changed upon the edge of known space. As a race the Awoken are proud and proper, with a regal air about them. While in some moments Petra can be a little more on the informal side, she is still Awoken through and through. They are a matriarchal monarchic society spread out among the asteroids and detritus called the 'Reef' within the Sol solar system. Anyone not from the Reef, from this contrasting world of harsh regality, is considered an Outsider; the Awoken are not quick to trust. It was only really with the betrayal of the House of Wolves - the Fallen (an alien race that are from the collection of various enemies of humanity dubbed 'The Darkness') - that caused the Queen to reach out to the Tower on Earth for assistance (Petra being the hand that was reached, essentially).

Petra's upbringing and early experiences in life lead her to a career within the Awoken military, and later a great love, respect, and appreciation for Queen Mara Sov, who was instrumental in ensuring she had a home and family after the ruin of Amethyst (her home asteroid among the Reef). She was part of many campaigns and rose through the ranks until an unfortunate call cost the lives, of three whole Guardian fireteams (including their Ghosts, which meant their deaths were permanent).

For this she was exiled to serve as the Queen's Emissary to the Guardians at the Tower. She did her duty tirelessly for many years, before her love for her home in the Reef moved her to write Queen Mara personally, expressing great regret in her actions, appreciation for the actions of the Queen's brother, Prince Uldren, and admitting how out of place she feels among the people of the Tower and that world, which was in so many ways unlike her own people. Her humility and loyalty show through here.

It wasn't admitted back until the bretrayal of the Wolves, and her skills were needed at home more than at the Tower. She is admitted back to the Reef, stationed at the Vestian Outpost, where she remains the Emirssary to the Guardians. With the help of Variks the Loyal, she tracks down enemies of the Queen and hands them out as bounties for the visiting Guardians. She also works closely with Queen Mara and Prince Uldren, her loyalty to the throne being recognized at the highest level.

While her current position takes her out of the direct line of fire, she is a fighter by nature and even helping the Guardian along in their quests fills her with a greater satisfaction and sense of purpose than simply delivering court orders. She is saddened by the death and destruction in the wake of such tragedies, and she is professional enough not to let it cloud her judgement, but she does fully admit to the excitement.

Her compassion for her people - and in particular her Queen - runs very deep. She's seen many of her sisters killed in war; from the razing of Amethyst and the Reef Wars, to the current betrayal of the House of Wolves, and she laments over those losses. When Queen Mara is (supposedly, rumors abound otherwise) lost to the Hive Dreadnought, Variks describes Petra as being 'mauled by grief' and is surprised when she makes an appearance to help the Guardian along. She thanks the Guardian for helping to distract her, being open to admit her sorrow.

Skills | Powers: Petra's skills aren't expressly explained (nor are any of the Awoken's really), but she does have some telekinetic abilities, which she likes to use to play with her knife. If that really extends beyond theatrics is anyone's guess, but given her past skill in the wars, I wouldn't doubt some greater power behind it. For thee sake of the game I will say she has basic telekinetic powers, nothing she uses frequently and nothing game-breaking.

First Person Sample:

Greetings, fellow denizens of this abominable realm. I am Petra Venj. I am new. But, I'm no idiot. Two points. First, I'm looking for someone who has been here a while, knows the ins and outs like no other.

[First thing to do in an hostile environment was set up an intelligence network.]

Second, I seek a gunsmith. I have something specific in mind, so you'd better good.

Third Person Sample:

Oh, how the rush of it filled her veins! As terrible as this place was, it was nothing less than exhilarating to be steeped in action again. Her sidearm chirped in quick succession as she fired on the Red Caps that were hazarding her exploration of the forest.

"I didn't think anything could get uglier than the Dreg, but you've topped that competition." She fells the closest Cap and agilely steps back a couple feet to reload, pausing long enough to flick her knife at another that's advancing, using her skills to ensure it makes a straight course into the creature's skull.

She readies her weapon again, leveling it at one of the last two ... or, as she finds, three, as there's suddenly a sharp slice to her thigh. She stumbles back, growling in frustration, and flips the sidearm around to bash its handle against the closest Red Cap's skull. That one single moment is what they need to to rush her, and in a flurry of movement she has to step up her game to take the stragglers out. Breathing heavily, taking stock of her injuries and counting her remaining magazines. She'd have to be more careful in the future and actually try to conserve ammo, but for the moment, she's satisfied. Bleeding, limping home, but happy.

Marks: She has the outline of a Guardian's Ghost on her right wrist, to symbolize the call she made that permanently snuffed out the life and Light of three Guardian fireteams.
